Where do the DR Congo figures on this page come from?

Every value is read live from the UNHCR Refugee Data Finder population API for DR Congo as a country of origin. We publish no figures of our own, and we do not estimate missing years.

Why is the most recent year lower or missing?

UNHCR publishes annual population figures on a reporting cycle, so the current year is usually incomplete or not yet published. A missing year means the source has not published it, not that displacement stopped.

Can I compare these categories with each other?

No. Refugees and asylum seekers are counted in countries of asylum, while internally displaced people are counted inside the country. Adding the categories together double counts people who moved through more than one status.

Why do these numbers differ from other reports?

IOM DTM, IDMC, OCHA and national authorities use different assessment methods, reference dates and geographic coverage. Differences between publishers are expected and should be read as different measurements, not as errors.

For cited global totals and per-country snapshots, see the 2026 displacement facts.

Live source series

DR Congo displacement by year

Compare DR Congo's 2026 reported figures against every earlier year in the same series. Values are read live from the UNHCR Refugee Data Finder, the publisher of the figures, so what you see here is what the source currently publishes. Years the source has not published are shown as not published rather than filled in.
